Expiation

Working in a bakery, Sage Singer tries to forget his mother's tragic death and his own unhappy loneliness. In a self-help group, he meets Josef Weber, with whom he forms a lifelong friendship. One day, however, the elderly Weber reveals a terrible secret from his past and asks Sage for a favor that puts her in a serious moral dilemma. Who is this man you thought was your friend? Where is the line between sin and guilt, forgiveness and grace? How do we protect our family and how can we get out of the vicious circle so that the past does not dictate the future?
